Martial Law, even if undeclared, descended on The Keystone State this last week to protect the G20 summit from protesters. Here’s a video below of Habeas Corpus being thrown out the window. Anyone hear rights read? Who are those people? Looks like a Le Carre scene from Cold War Berlin. Frightening.
Small, but large for Pittsburgh, and spirited is how I’ve heard the demos at the G20 in Pittsburgh described. The cops (and military) out-numbered the demonstrators at nearly all points it seems though the People’s March seems to have been a success. Solidarity comrades on the scene….Socialist Workerreports as well.
Cops are cops all over the world, but Pittsburgh cops are more coppy than most. It looks like all of that Homeland Security money went to buy new toys for the boys; duly tested on activists in Pittsburgh. Sonic weapons? Bean bag guns? Much of the gathering was unpermitted, declared illegal and broken up in a way that would make the basiji jealous.
I have yet to see a single teabagger protest surrounded and gassed. Hmmm. So let me get this straight….right wing nut jobs are allowed to bring automatic weapons to their demos and left-wingers aren’t allowed to have demos. OK, at least I’ve got it now. USA! USA!
