  1. I hope someone someday will do a proper history of this movement It is needed, warts and all. For those in the big cities and organized there was a certain type of struggle, But when you look at some of those kids that showed up at ARA conventions in the mid nineties from places like Terre Haute, IN and Wilkes Barre, PA and how utterly isolated there struggle in their schools and communities must have felt before they had something like the ARA network for support and how courageous they were, that is a chapter that need to be told too. I am sure there is now some old Ara’r teaching at some community college somewhere that could get funding and take a sabbatical and write a proper history.
