Marx on the Mekons

A few months ago I posted a couple of Mekons songs as proof that they were the Greatest Living Rock Band.  For the doubters and haters out there I add more evidence of this indisputable fact.  Indeed, a close reading of Marx’s Grundrisse reveals this startling passage from Notebook IV-

…while at the same time the capitalist produces himself as capital as well as the living labour capacity confronting him. Each reproduces itself, by reproducing its other, its negation. The capitalist produces labour as alien (exemplified in the 1985 Mekons LP Fear and Whiskey) ; labour produces the product as alien. The capitalist produces the worker, and the worker the capitalist etc….

And some dare say Marx was not a prophet!
